MATERIALS

The final ballistic event remains a complex effect regarding the high kinetic energy that has to be dissipated into a small area. The strategy to overcome a given kinetic threat such as rifle ammunitions, fragments or military arrows will differ upon many parameters. Firstly, the ones related to the projectile such as its hardness, sectional density, length, mass or speed. Secondly, the ones related to the customer’s requirements for the protection solution such as areal density, multi-shots capability, cost aspects or the mission compatibility (resistance to vibration, to fire, to UV radiation etc.).

To meet these requirements, ballistic protection solutions are engineered and designed as complex multi-layered systems made of high performance ceramics, fabrics and metal alloys. Each layer has a particular function and a global synergy is reached in the system through the integration step and through the use of high performance glues.

Our experts will discuss your project and quickly develop prototypes upon your request. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information or new product development.

FABRIC

High performance protective fabrics are allowing to absorb a high amount of kinetic energy in a very short time. They are made of yarns, which are characterized by elasticity, tenacity or a tensile strength. The nature of those materials generally ranges in para-aramid, polyethylene, glass and carbon grades. The capacity of the final fabrics versus a specific event (e.g. stab, ballistic) is relying on various parameters such as weave patterns, fiber lay-ups and linear and areal densities. The specific conditions regarding the usage of the fabric are requesting multishot resistance, temperature resistance, wearer comfort or low back face deformation. In consequence this implies the need of highly engineered and optimized solutions.

We develop and supply the most suited fabrics and materials for your projects.

Our Products

  • High performance fabrics (woven or non woven) from various materials (para-aramid, polyethylene, carbon, glass), from standard to tailor-made
  • Soft ballistic solutions made from a specific stacking of fabrics

METAL

Metal-based alloys from aluminum, iron or titanium are key materials for armor applications because of their good performance,  structural possibilities and moderate costs. Up-to-date innovations in alloying element formulations or treatments such as quenching or tempering have lead to significant improvements of their properties. For instance, the last generation of high hardness steels allows a significant weight decrease (up to 50 %) in comparison to the usually used RHA steel grade. We develop and supply everything from standard plates to tailored, innovative protection solutions made from ballistic metal grades. Do not hesitate to contact us for any enquiry related to your project.

Our Products

  • Ballistic protection products from metal alloys (aluminum, steel and titanium grades)
  • From standard plates to tailor-made complex and innovative solutions

CERAMIC

Technical ceramics are key components of the highest performance ballistic protection systems. Their extreme compressive strength allow to resist the most severe pressures, occurring during the ballistic impact and to break the hardest projectile’s core. We are not a reseller or developer of ceramics but can advise you to choose the right ceramic nature, grade and design to fit your project’s requirements.

Our Products

  • Various nature (B4C, SiC, Al2O3, Si3N4, TiB2) and grades (sintered, hot pressed, reaction bonded etc.) upon project requirements
  • Various shapes (torso plates, square/hexagon tiles, large plates with complex shapes, helmets etc.)
  • Monolith ceramics withstanding multi-shot (no mosaic required)

ADHESIVE

High performance glues allow an exceptional adhesion to low and high surface energy materials such as ceramics, polymers and metals. They are usually made of acrylic, epoxy and urethane bases. The glue’s chemistry has to be tuned to optimize the required adhesion properties (shearing strength, pilling strength, soft or hard bonding etc.) on similar or dissimilar materials. In order to choose the most suited product, other parameters related to the desired application are important such as contact with water or chemicals, exposure to UV radiation or to extreme temperatures.
We are able to advise and supply the most suited reactive and non-reactive adhesives for your projects. The product composition can vary from liquids (with various rheological behaviors) to foils and sprays.

Our Products

  • High performance glues (acrylic, epoxy, urethane etc.) under liquid or foil forms
